About enerbeat
What we are and who we work with
What does enerbeat do?
enerbeat develops solutions for monitoring, analysis, digital twins and intelligent control of HVAC systems — with a particular focus on industrial, commercial and production-related environments.
Who is behind enerbeat?
enerbeat is led by an multidisciplinary founding team combining deep HVAC expertise with industrial experience, as well as strengths in research, software and system architecture, informatics and business development. More about us on the team page.
Which systems is enerbeat suitable for?
enerbeat focuses on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems with high requirements for thermal comfort and air quality, like dew point temperatures, particle load, CO₂, VOCs and others. Ideally, a frequency converter should be available, and standard setpoints (such as airflow rates or temperature setpoints) should be writable.
Which industries benefit most from enerbeat?
Production environments, battery cell manufacturing (dry and clean rooms), laboratories, semiconductor and clean-room facilities, industrial buildings, technical centers and sites with high HVAC energy demand.
Is enerbeat suitable for new buildings or existing systems?
Both. For existing systems, enerbeat typically starts with a potential assessment and monitoring. For new construction and refurbishment projects, enerbeat supports you from an early stage in the planning phase, for example with simulation and integration concepts — so the system you build is the system you want to run.
Our approach
From increased transparency to demand-driven operation
What are enerbeat’s key areas of focus in operation and planning?
In operation, enerbeat focuses on increased transparency, diagnosis, optimization and control during ongoing system operation. In planning, enerbeat creates digital foundations, simulations and integration logic for new construction, refurbishment or retrofit projects.
What value does monitoring alone provide?
Even without changing a single setpoint, it provides the foundation for diagnosis, prioritization of measures, reporting and subsequent optimization.
What does digital twin mean at enerbeat?
A digital twin represents systems, zones, influencing factors and relevant physical relationships in a model-based way — enabling the comparison of variants, the preparation of control decisions and the validation of strategies based on real operating data before costly implementation.
What is model-predictive control?
Model-predictive control uses a model of the system together with forecasts of typical influences (e.g. weather, occupancy, process loads) to choose control variables proactively — always within defined limits and safety logic, never overriding manual setpoints without permission.
How does enerbeat differ from a traditional BMS, SCADA or IoT platform?
A BMS or SCADA handles direct supervisory control of the physical equipment. enerbeat sits on top: it adds high-resolution sensing, digital twins and demand-driven optimization while leaving the existing automation layer in place. It is designed to complement, not replace.
Technology
Sensors, edge devices and the systems they connect to
Which data is typically collected by enerbeat during operation?
Typical data includes room temperature, temperature fields, CO₂, VOCs, particles, airflow, pressure, dew point, operating states, volume flows and external influences. The concrete sensor set is defined per project.
Can an existing BMS be connected?
Yes, provided that suitable interfaces are available. We commonly work with BACnet, Modbus and OPC UA, and read from existing data layers wherever possible. The concrete integration is assessed during the system and data check.
What protocols and standards does enerbeat support?
On the field side, we work with BACnet, Modbus (TCP/RTU) and OPC UA, with MQTT and REST for integrations. Sensor data is preprocessed locally on edge devices and exposed via documented interfaces. Specific protocol coverage depends on the system and is defined per project.
Does the control system require a cloud connection?
No. Edge devices preprocess data locally and can execute control functions close to the site, so connectivity outages do not stop safe operation. The cloud is used for analytics, dashboards and remote access — never as a single point of failure.
Does enerbeat replace building automation?
No. enerbeat is designed to complement existing automation: it makes the building more transparent and optimizes it in a targeted way, without taking over the supervisory control your operations team already relies on.
Projects
What a project looks like end-to-end
How does a project typically start?
A project typically starts with an initial consultation, followed by a data and system check and a potential assessment. From there we move into monitoring, visualization, integration and — where appropriate — subsequent optimization.
When does an initial consultation make sense?
If air is mechanically moved in your facility, energy costs are high, data is limited, indoor air conditions are critical to your processes, a retrofit project is planned, or your HVAC system is currently operated mainly on time schedules or based on duct measurements.
What is a potential assessment?
A structured initial evaluation in which system, usage and energy data are reviewed in order to roughly assess optimization potential and recommend the most useful next step — often before any larger investment is committed.
How long does a typical project take?
An initial potential assessment can be carried out at short notice. Monitoring and dashboards for a defined scope are typically implemented over a period of several months. Larger optimization or planning projects are tailored to your specific requirements and delivered reliably.
How complex is the installation?
This depends on the sensor setup, interfaces, number of systems and site conditions. The goal is a lean retrofit with clearly documented installation points and minimal disruption to ongoing operation.
Safety & data
Safe and reliable operations
How is operational safety considered?
Every active control function is implemented with defined limits, manual override options, fallback strategies and operator approvals. Safety always wins over savings — optimization happens inside the safe operating window, not by stretching it. Operators have the ability to intervene or make adjustments at any time.
What happens in the event of faults or disruptions?
Every active enerbeat control algorithm ships with defined project boundaries, fallback logic, manual override and alerting. If sensors fail, networks drop or limits are approached, the system falls back to a defined safe state and notifies operators.
How is data protection considered?
Personal data on this website is processed in line with our Privacy Policy. For project data, we collect only what is necessary for the agreed scope, document data flows transparently and conclude a data processing agreement (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag) wherever required.
Can enerbeat support ISO 50001?
enerbeat can provide measurement data, energy flow transparency and reports that support energy management work such as ISO 50001, baselines and audit preparation. The formal certification work itself remains project-specific.
Value & partners
Savings, funding and working with your existing partners
Does enerbeat promise fixed energy savings?
No. Savings potential depends strongly on the system, usage, operating hours, control strategy and data quality. enerbeat evaluates potential individually and based on data — we would rather give you a defensible number than a marketing one.
How is the benefit demonstrated?
Through baselines, measurement data, operating states and energy flows as well as weather-adjusted energy demand. The exact verification approach is defined jointly within the project — savings are then measured against the agreed metrics and baselines.
Is enerbeat eligible for funding?
In principle, yes. In Germany, BAFA funding under Module 3 (measurement, control technology, sensors and energy management software) may be applicable. In general, eligibility must be assessed on a project-specific basis. Any funding information provided on this website does not replace professional funding advice.
What role do energy consultants play?
Energy consultants can use enerbeat data to better quantify potential, prepare measures and make energy flows more transparent for reporting or audit purposes (e.g. ISO 50001). enerbeat provides more reliable energy demand data in commonly used data formats.
What role do system builders and integrators play?
System builders and integrators remain key partners for installation, interfaces, commissioning and the safe integration into existing system logic. The enerbeat solution portfolio can be effectively integrated early on by system builders and integrators.
Can enerbeat provide consulting only, or also implementation?
The exact balance between in-house implementation and partner integration is defined on a project-specific basis in close coordination with you.
